Inzamam-Ul-Haq Barred From Owning a Team in T10 Tournament

Inzamam ul Haq, former Pakistan skipper and current chief selector, has been barred by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to get involved in any manner or owning a team in the forthcoming T10 cricket league, scheduled to be held in UAE this December.

As a result, the legendary batsman has submitted his clarification on the whole matter with ANI reporting he has made it clear that he is not related to any of the six franchises in the league. The ex-cricketer has also stated that he would not do anything that violates the board policies.

PCB chairman Najam Sethi, however, had previously stated Inzamam would get prohibited from getting involved with the league only if the involvement violates board’s policies, as he is only a ‘consultant’ to the board and cannot get barred from indulging in other activities.

“If any of those activities are in conflict with the board, then only can he be stopped. Inzamam can, therefore, be a ‘consultant’ for the franchises but not buy teams,” Sethi was earlier quoted by the Express Tribune as saying.

Sethi has said Inzamam can be involved with the league only if it does not violate board’s policies

Meanwhile, the upcoming tournament will give the fans an opportunity to see the stars of yesteryear in action, as the likes of Virender Sehwag, Kumar Sangakkara and Shahid Afridi will feature in it.

Called by the organisers as ‘cricket’s new revolution’, each match in the tournament will witness the game lasting 90 minutes like football. The six-team tournament, backed by the Emirates Cricket Board and T10 Sports Management, will be held between December 21-24.

The latest format of the tournament will also witness some other exciting innovations like breaks after five overs during which flash mobs will entertain the crowd. The organisers have also planned to make the dot balls attractive for the spectators, as there will be people dressed as statues which will stalk the boundary and remain still after every dot ball.

Each team will also have one icon player. The six icons are – Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan, Pakistan’s Shahid Afridi, India’s Virender Sehwag, Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara, England captain Eoin Morgan and West Indies star Chris Gayle.
