ToggleThere has always been a common perception in the cricketing fraternity that players play for the team and not for themselves because cricket is often called the team sport. However, former Pakistani skipper Inzamam-ul-Haq thought otherwise and claimed that Indians always played for themselves and not for the team.
Inzamam highlighted that Pakistan national cricket team players maintained the reputation and credibility by playing for the team and not for themselves. Even if the players contribute 30-40 runs, it was for the team whereas Indians who scored centuries played for themselves according to Inzamam-ul-Haq.

Indians played for themselves and not for the team: Inzamam-ul-Haq
During Inzamam-ul-Haq’s playing days, his team had a comparatively better record over India compared to the recent times. Speaking with Rameez Raja on his YouTube show, Inzamam said. However, Team India’s batting order was more powerful, Pakistan batsmen always gave absolutely everything for the team and hence, they were able to get the better of India consistently.

“When we played against India, their batting was more powerful than us on paper. But even our batsmen scored 30 or 40 runs, it was for the team, but for India, even if they scored 100 runs, they played for themselves. So, that was the difference between the two sides,” Inzamam-ul-Haq said during the chat show.
Imran Khan always backed the players: Inzamam-ul-Haq
Inzamam also added that Imran Khan was one of the most successful and admired leaders as he backed his players. The former Pakistan skipper also said that Imran Khan knew how to get the best out of his players.
Inzamam said that Imran Khan would not drop any player from the team after failing to perform in one series. Imran Khan always believed in giving the player much-needed confidence, and this is one of the main reasons why Imran Khan was respected so much.
