Cricket, which is said to be the gentlemen’s game has been maintaining its stature for a long time. But the some allegations of Corruption, disrespecting the opponents and Match-Fixing over the years seemed to have tarnished the image of the sport. Since the inception of IPL in 2008, the BCCI has made sure that fair play has been the maintained by the participating teams and players. So they introduced a “Kingfisher FairPlay Award” for the team that plays with the right spirit. Even then there are some annoying moments in the IPL. Chennai Super Kings finished at the top in the Fairplay table whereas Mumbai Indians finished at the bottom. Here we bring you some of the annoying moments of IPL 2104.

One of the primary reasons for Mumbai Indians to finish last in the Fairplay table is the presence of their West Indian import Kieron Pollard. Pollard was involved in two ugly spats against the Aussies in the IPL. First it was in the game against Royal Challengers Bangalore at Mumbai. Starc ran in to bowl but Pollard backed away at the last moment. Starc still followed Pollard down the leg side and the ball missed Pollard’s pads before it went to the keeper. Angry by Starc’s actions, Pollard in return threw his bat towards the bowler and both the players were involved in a verbal spat. Later it was RCB skipper Virat Kohli and the umpires who intervened between them and got the air cleared as Chris Gayle took Pollard away. Both the players were fined by the match referee.

Pollard once again was involved in a spat, this time with Sunrisers Hyderabad’s David Warner. Warner drilled a Yorker from Pollard back to the bowler who nearly flings it back. Warner replies Pollard with a flying kiss that received an ugly gesture from Pollard.

Once again it was Mumbai Indians’ player who was involved in an ugly spat in the IPL. This time, it was not Pollard instead it was the 20 year old pacer Jasprit Bumrah who managed to castle AB de Villiers shows some dissent while sending the batsman to the pavilion.

Earlier in that match, RCB spinner Yuzvendra Chahal did the same thing to Mumbai’s Corey Anderson. But both the Indian bowlers took the twitter route to apologise to their opponents.

In the match against Rajasthan Royals, Kolkata Knight Riders pacer Andre Russell while bowling to Shane Watson ran all the way from his bowling mark before he tried to back off to bowl the ball which made Watson to ease from his stance. Then Russell managed to get his run up back on track ad bowled the delivery outside the off stump and the delivery was considered as a legitimate one as the bowler did bizarre action at the back of the umpire.

Glenn Maxwell has been in a fine run throughout the tournament and was severe against the Chennai Super Kings against whom he picked Ashwin for some treatment. Ashwin challenged Maxwell ahead of the second qualifiers where Ashwin got the better of Maxwell. Ashwin sent off Maxwell with a flying kiss which didn’t impress CSK’s skipper MS Dhoni.

These are the most annoying moments in the IPL 2104.
