The skipper tweeted that he would not be travelling to Pune, instead was staying back. He described his symptoms as cramps, weakness, and fever. He also claimed to be living on khichdee and curd rice.

This news was confirmed by the skipper’s manager. The star player had wished his Bengali fans a Happy New Year, on the traditional new year observed in West Bengal.

Kolkata will certainly miss Gambhir, who has delivered great performances so far in the Indian Premier League. He has scored two consecutive fifties against Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians, however, Kolkata Knight Riders lost to Royal Challengers Bangalore by three wickets.

Gambhir blasted 57 runs for 43 balls in the opening match of the Premier League powering Kolkata to a win against Mumbai.
