IPL 2016 Match 11: Five turning points of RCB vs DD

Delhi Daredevils produced a spirited performance as they beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by 7 wickets at Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore few moments ago. Delhi played some excellent cricket in the match restricting Bangalore to 192 before De Kock scored a brilliant century to give Delhi their second victory of the tournament.

  1. Early wicket of Gayle

Delhi Daredevils won the toss and elected to field. Like the previous match against Sunrisers, Chris Gayle was dismissed again for 0 by Zaheer Khan. Chris Gayle played 2 balls and on the third ball, he was caught brilliantly by JP Duminy in the slip. Royal Challengers Bangalore needed a good start but Chris Gayle failed to deliver for the second successive match in a row. The West Indies batsmen needed to spend time but disappointed the Royal Challengers supporters.

  1. Brilliant partnership between Virat Kohli, De Villiers, and Watson

After the loss of wicket Gayle wicket, Kohli, and De Villiers continued from where they left in the previous match. They smashed the bowlers to all parts of the ground. In the first six overs, Bangalore scored 63runs. De Villiers and Kohli looked in great touch. Both of them put on 106 runs in just 10 overs. After De Villiers got out for 55, Watson and Kohli attacked the Delhi Daredevils bowlers to all parts of the ground putting on 58 runs in 5 overs. Watson was caught for a quick fire 33 while Kohli looked in excellent form before getting out for 79.

  1. Delhi coming back well in the death overs

In the 16th over Royal Challengers, they were 164 for 2, looking on course for 220, the Delhi Daredevils bowlers restricted the batting line up. Shami took 2 wickets of Watson and Sarfaraz Khan in the same over. Kohli who was looking dangerous tried to clear the boundary but was caught well. Kedar Jadhav and Wiese tried to hit boundaries but were not able to do it. In the last ball of the innings, Jadhav hit a boundary. In the last 4 overs, Delhi Daredevils gave away 27 runs for the loss of 3 wickets. Delhi Daredevils restricted Royal Challengers Bangalore to 191.

  1. De Kock excellent knock

Chasing a target of 192, Delhi Daredevils lost the wicket of Iyer in the second over to great combination catch by Wiese and Watson. After that, De Kock looked in great form smashing the fast bowlers and spinners all parts of the ground. De Kock smashed 50 in 22 balls. After getting 50 he smashed the Bangalore bowlers to all parts of the ground. He played some wonderful strokes of all the bowlers. He completed the first century of IPL 9. De Kock scored 108 off 50 balls which helped Delhi to come closer to the target.

  1. Karun Nair giving support

Karun Nair came to the crease at the fall of Sanju Samson wicket at the score of 50. He took the time to settle. After that, he and De Kock just played wonderful strokes. Both of them put on 133 in 13.2 overs which put pressure on Royal Challengers bowlers. Karun Nair smashed 50 off 36 balls and remained not out on 53. Delhi Daredevils won the match by 7 wickets which will increase their confidence for the remaining matches in the tournament.
