IPL 2017: Eoin Morgan, Jason Roy, Sam Billings To Leave IPL Early For Ireland Series

The trio of Eoin Morgan, Jason Roy and Sam Billings will leave IPL midway to join the England squad for the two-match ODI series against Ireland.

While there are still not clarity over the fact whether Morgan and Roy will return back for another short stint, it has been confirmed that Jason Roy will not return to India and will play domestic cricket in England.

England skipper Eoin Morgan is a part of Kings XI Punjab. whereas, Bilins and Roy are part of Delhi Daredevils and Gujarat Lions respectively. Billings has played five games for Delhi, whereas, both Morgan and Roy have not been given regular chances by their franchises.

While these three players will fly back for Ireland series, other players like Ben Stokes and Chris Woakes, who are the part of England squad for the Champions Trophy, will have a late departure and will join the side for the ODI series against South Africa. ECB had earlier allowed these two players to skip the Ireland series.

Meanwhile, England Board has also announced its squad for the Champion Trophy, The selectors have recalled fit-again pacers David Willey and Mark Wood to the side.

There were no new faces in the team despite some of the youngsters making sounds in domestic cricket. The exclusion of Steven Finn and Ben Duckett come as a surprise though. Both of them have been given a place in the team for the Ireland series only, which England will play before ODI series against South Africa.

England’s squad for Champions Trophy: Moeen Ali, Jonny Bairstow, Jake Ball, Sam Billings, Jos Buttler (wicketkeeper), Alex Hales, Eoin Morgan (c), Liam Plunkett, Adil Rashid, Joe Root, Jason Roy, Ben Stokes, David Willey, Chris Woakes, Mark Wood.
