Overview –
Gujarat Lions tourney has reached a stage where the table toppers from last year’s IPL can’t just take any game lightly. They don’t have to just ensure a win each game, but also have to make it a calculative win i.e. keep in mind the net run rate. Players are well versed with this fact as we saw in last game where Aaron Finch showed the urgency to chase the target as soon as possible to improve net run-rate.
Their counterparts Mumbai Indians, though are placed at the second position but the last loss against Rising Pune Supergiant was a disappointment for them as the loss did not just ended their winning streak of six games but also came at their home ground, which is considered to be their fortress.
View on think tank –
Gujarat thinks tank have had made oodles of changes in the line-up. From giving chances to unheard players like Tejas Baroka and Ankit Soni to including and dropping senior like Praveen Kumar, the backroom staff have done everything to come up with a win but still, the side is plying its trade at the sixth position on the points table.
Now time has gone when they can make few more changes in the team to spot the winning combination and now they have to just come up with the results on the field.
Mumbai Indians think tank have done a good job with straightaway using Nitish Rana, who was coming from a poor form in domestic cricket. Also, promoting him at number three position have benefitted them. So full marks to the think tank. Once they are assured of a place in the next round, they should give a chance to few benched players so as to give them exposure.
Positives –
The dominant win over Royal Challengers Bangalore was the biggest positive for them but Gujarat has given only false hopes till now. All the three wins that they have achieved have been dominant one but they have always been back on the losing spree after a win. This time again they are coming in the game with a win behind and it will be interesting to see whether they can continue it or get back on the previous track record.
Mumbai Indians have been able to churn out many positives from their performances till now. From Nitish Rana to their opening pair, every step has come up with a positive. They just have to continue their form in order to qualify for the second round.
Predicted XI –
Mumbai Indians – Jos Buttler, Parthiv Patel, Nitish Rana, Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Harbhajan Singh, Kieron Pollard, Mitchell McClengahn, Mitchell Johnson, Jasprit Bumrah.

Match Prediction –
