IPL 2017: “Glenn Maxwell’s Innings Gave Us Confidence,” Says Centurion Hashim Amla

The Kings XI Punjab batsman Hashim Amla struck his first ever century in T20 cricket, as playing for Kings XI Punjab, the opener played an innings of 104* of just 60 deliveries.
His innings comprised of six sixes and eight fours. The 97 metres six which he hit off Lasith Maling was the highlight of the innings, as once, it looked like the ball might not go all the way but the leather did not just cross the boundary line but also went out of the ground.
Riding on brilliant innings from Amla, Punjab was able to put up a target of 198 on the board. Glenn Maxwell also supported him quite well, as the KXIP skipper flashed 40 runs off just 18 deliveries at a strike rate of 222.22.
However, the huge total does not guarantee success to the team, as the pitch is expected to be same in rest of the innings as well and with dew coming into play, there might be a case when Mumbai Indians will eclipse this target.
Here is what Hashim Amla said after his brilliant innings –
“It was really nice to get some runs. Maxwell came out and really gave us some momentum. You got to take more risks (in this format), sometimes they go your way and sometimes they don’t. The first two wickets we played on were not as good as this one. The crowd has been fantastic, hopefully, 200 is going to be enough for us. It’s a very good wicket, not too much turn either and it’s going to be a good challenge for us.”
