IPL 2017: Match 46 – Royal Challengers Bangalore Vs Kolkata Knight Riders – RCB Predicted XI

Royal Challengers Bangalore’s dismal show continues in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) as they are languishing at the bottom of the table.

Royal Challengers’ batsmen in general have misfired in this edition which includes Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli, Shane Watson, and AB de Villiers, who did not perform to their potential as the side is able to win just two matches and lost nine whereas, the one match was washed out against Sunrisers Hyderabad to see one-point being shared each.

The hosts lost four matches on the trot heading into a match against formidable Kolkata Knight Riders, led by Gautam Gambhir.

Knight Riders is placed at the second spot on the table on the basis of strong Net run-rate (+0.725) than Rising Pune Supergiant (-0.123) as both sides shared 14 points each in 11 games respectively.

The Bangalore-based outfit would like to win their remaining two games to salvage some pride as that further would see them battling to avoid wooden spoon on the 2017 points table at the group stage.

With nothing to lose, Royal Challengers would be aiming to rely on their bowling which came as a surprise after the bowlers bowled decently following the lacklustre in the batting department that further disappointed their die-hard fans.

The downfall of the Royal Challengers Bangalore could be understood by the statistics which says Royal Challengers lost 47 wickets in their past five games after scoring 560 runs.

While giving something to cheer for their fans, the Royal Challengers is expected if not to win the remainder of the matches — at least be competitive.

Previous Encounters:

On April 23, Gambhir-led Kolkata Knight Riders humiliated Royal Challengers after bundling them out for 49 in 9.4 overs. While chasing the target of 132, Kohli-led side fell like a pack of cards against a decent bowling attack at their own backyard.

Royal Challengers look out of sorts in this Twenty20 competition and Kolkata Knight Riders have an edge over the line-up which was one of the favourite contenders for the IPL.

Royal Challengers and Kolkata Knight Riders have faced off in 19 head-to-head matches. Knight Riders won 10 and Royal Challengers registered nine wins.

Considering the fact that both the sides have fought equally well against each other, in the past nine editions of the cash-rich league; expect this encounter to be a nail-biter.

Recent Form:

RCB: NR L L L L

KKR: W W W L L

Talking Points:

It won’t be easy match for the visitors, who had lost two matches in a row whereas, struggling Royal Challengers have the hard-hitting stars like Chris Gayle, Ab Devilliers and Kedhar Jadhav, who could change the complexion of the game, even if they failed to live up to their expectations so far, in a bid to entertain their loyal fans.

The hosts have only positive to their name in the batting when they scored 213 for two against Gujarat Lions before adding the lowest team score in IPL history.

On the other hand, Pawan Negi and Yuzvendra Chahal in the spin department would like to contain the solid batting line-up of Kolkata Knight Riders.

The Virat Kohli-led side would also be relying on Samuel Badree, Sreenath Arvind and Aniket Choudhary as well. It is further expected Shane Watson might be replaced by New Zealand fast bowler Adam Milne.

Royal Challengers Bangalore Predicted XI:

Mandeep Singh, Chris Gayle/Travis Head, Virat Kohli (C), AB de Villiers, Shane Watson/Adam Milne, Kedar Jadhav (wk), Pawan Negi, Sreenath Aravind, Samuel Badree, Yuzvendra Chahal and Aniket Choudhary
