IPL 2017: Match 56 – Delhi Daredevils v Royal Challengers Bangalore – Match Prediction

The league stage of the IPL, which has been witnessing some really interesting matches since the past few days, will come to an end with a dead rubber when Delhi Daredevils meet Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Match no. 56 at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium.

Home side Delhi Daredevils can expect a better finish to this edition if they win the upcoming fixture, as two more points would take their tally to 14 points. In that scenario, they may finish at the fifth position if Punjab loses their final game.

For visitors RCB, they will just be eager to end the formalities as soon as possible. Win or lose, it does not make much difference after the disgusting performances they showed this season. Kohli & Co, however, will not be carrying dropped shoulders and would give a tough fight to the opposition.

Overview:

DD carries a surprisingly solid recent win-loss record for a team that has already gotten eliminated. This season is quite similar to the last one where they finished sixth. But, logically they would be unhappy after letting the opportunity to qualify for the playoffs slip away. To put up a simple picture, DD lost matches which they shouldn’t have. They missed opportunities at the crucial junctions which cost them very badly.

The less we discuss RCB’s outing this season, the happier their superstars Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, Chris Gayle and others would be. Their season was marred by injuries and poor form. This upcoming match provides them one last opportunity to end the tournament with the smile on the face.

Tracking the strengths

Delhi will expect a collective effort from both the batting as well as the bowling department. Zaheer Khan would again bet on his young batting order to win it for them. The bowling attack also carries a much more experienced look and can face off RCB’s batting threat.

Despite not being in form, the likes of Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle will be a threat to the opposition. The dangerous trio would not let the final opportunity to gain some respect from their fans go away that easily. Therefore, the biggest task which the Delhi Daredevils will face on May 14th will be to contain the star trio.

Match prediction:

Delhi Daredevils starts as the favourites without any doubt. The chances of DD batting order outshining its much-experienced counterparts look very high at the moment. Also, RCB’s bowling looks nowhere as effective as Zaheer Khan and his comrades.

A surprise maybe around the corner considering the powerful batting line-up that RCB has but from a broader perspective, DD can be safely pitted as the winners of Sunday’s game.
