IPL 2017: Mumbai Indians Vs Delhi Daredevils – Predicted XI Of Delhi Daredevils
Apr 21, 2017 at 7:32 PM
Inconsistency has always been Delhi Daredevils’ nemesis and the team from the capital is once again showing the same form that has never allowed them to finish above the sixth place in the last four seasons.
They began their season with a loss against Royal Challengers Bangalore but bounced back quickly with two emphatic wins over Rising Pune Supergiant and Kings XI Punjab.
However, they failed to sustain the momentum and succumbed to defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad. And if they are are hoping to get back to winning ways from the next game onward, then they will have to play out of their skin, as they will travel to Mumbai to take on the in-form Mumbai Indians.
Rohit Sharma’s men did not start the season on a good note, losing the opener against Rising Pune Supergiant but have hit the top gear since then. The two-time Indian Premier League champions are on a five-match winning streak, the most recent being a stunning chase of 199 in just 15.3 overs against Kings XI Punjab.
The team is looking one of most settled units in the tournament right now and Delhi will have their task cut out if they are looking to upset them.
Before we look at the predicted eleven of the visiting team, we are taking a look at the past battles of the two teams, their recent form and the talking point of the visitors.
Previous encounters:
Both the teams have equal success ratio in this tie. Out of the 18 matches that these teams have played so far, both of them have won nine each. In the last season too, both the teams won a game each against each other. In the first game, the capital-based outfit won by 10 runs while Rohit Sharma’s men won the next fixture by 80 runs.
Recent form:
MI: L W W W W W
DD: L W W L L
Talking points:
The failure to deliver the killing punch will be Delhi’s biggest concern. In the game against Kolkata Knight Riders, they had reduced the two-time champions to 21 for three while they were defending 168 but went on to lose the match. In the last match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, they were 85 for one in the 10th over while chasing 191 but eventually fell short by 15 runs.
Predicted XI:
If Corey Anderson is fit, he is likely to replace Angelo Mathews in the playing eleven. Shahbaz Nadeem, who has an economy rate of 4.90 in three matches that he has played so far, can also find a spot in the team. He was replaced by Jayant Yadav in the last game but the off-spinner could not make much of an impact, conceding 16 runs in two overs.
Sanju Samson, Sam Billings, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant (wk), Karun Nair, Corey Anderson, Chris Morris, Pat Cummins, Amit Mishra, Zaheer Khan (capt), Shahbaz Nadeem
