IPL 2017: “Poor Batting Brought Mumbai Indians Back In The Game,” Says Zaheer Khan

For once in the tournament, it looked like Delhi Daredevils is a changed team but as said, the form is temporary. Same is the case with this team, as they were back on the losing track, losing their second consecutive game.
There were few surprising decisions from Zaheer Khan at the time of the toss that really was responsible for the loss, as first, there was no Shahbaz Nadeem in the side and in re-induction of Aditya Tare also made no sense really. Tare failed to contribute and was dismissed for a duck.
He was the first one to go and others followed him, as within next 20 runs, four other batsmen were done with their job and were resting in the dressing room. It was a poor show of batting display from Delhi Daredevils.
However, all-rounder Chris Morris and Kagiso Rabada lit up hopes of a win with a partnership of 91 between them but in the end, it was in vain.
The biggest flaw in their batting glue-up is that they have oodles of youngsters in the side with no impact player, who can show the team the way they have to play.
One wicket is enough to put pressure on this team, which shows the inexperience. Delhi Daredevils have itself spoilt the good start in the tournament and losing games like this is none less than a cry.
Here is what Zaheer Khan, the skipper of Delhi Daredevils said –
Zaheer:
“The only chance MI had in the game was by taking early wickets and we brought them back. How many times you are 24 for six and come so close. Early wickets never really help. Our bowlers did a fantastic job. We needed some smart batting. Strange to see bowlers dominating. One of the games where I felt our pace battery was brilliant. We felt they were 25 runs short. Considering 24 for six and to lose like this, it was a fantastic effort. I was ready for 9-10 overs and when I am ready that early, things are not that well. We should believe in ourselves and put some good performances together. When we are batting well, we are not bowling well and vice versa. Once things start turning for us, three or four wins should get us back in the tournament.”
