IPL 2017 : Top 10 Players Who Won Most Number of Man Of The Match Award In IPL

In last ten seasons, we have seen many memorable performances by many players. Even this year, we have noticed many great efforts from the players.

Though some get attention, some are rewarded and some are forgotten. To turn any game in your favour, your effort needs to be special. IPL has seen many match winner players and some great efforts from them.

Players get an appreciation as well for their performances and man of the match is one award given for those efforts.

Here I am going to tell you about few players who had won Man of the Match award for the most number of times.

Here is the list of Top 10 players who won the most number of Man of the Match:

Gautam Gambhir

10- Gautam Gambhir (Delhi Daredevils / Kolkata Knight Riders)

Matches 138 Man of the Match Award- 12

Gautam Gambhir is one of the most consistent batsmen in Indian Premier League. He is also among the Top three run-getters in the league as well. Just like MS Dhoni he had also led his team Kolkata Knight Riders to title victories twice. Gautam Gambhir in the league has scored 3863 runs with 33 fifties. He had won Man of the Match award 12 times and stand in ninth place.

9- Ajinkya Rahane(Mumbai Indians / Rajasthan Royals / Rising Pune Supergiant)

Matches 101 Man of the Match Award 12

He earned his national call-up after performing in IPL, in first few seasons with Mumbai he was not getting enough chances, he came to Rajasthan Royals and became a star player for them. Now he is with Pune franchise. He has scored over 2796 runs in 101 matches with a ton and 24 half-centuries. In those 101 matches, he got Man of the Match award 12 times. Compared to No.10 in this list he has played less number of matches to make this list.

Mike Hussey

8- Michael Hussey(Chennai Super Kings / Mumbai Indians)

Matches 59 Man of the Match- 12

Just 59 matches to get 12 Man of the Match for this legendary Australian batsman. Mathematically in every fourth or fifth game, he had played the role of a match winner.

Michael hussy in IPL have played 59 matches and scored nearly 2000 runs, 1977 runs in exact. He also has a ton and 15 half-centuries with his name and having such stats in T20 cricket is great stuff.

7- MS Dhoni (Chennai Super Kings / Rising Pune Supergiants)

Matches 149 Man of the Match Award- 13

In Indian Premier League 2017 you are yet to see him firing but in past nine seasons, MS Dhoni has earned a reputation of a big player. He led Chennai Super Kings to title victories twice as a captain as well as a batsman. He earned the reputation of one of the best finisher in limited-overs format is IPL as well. Though this season he started badly, but his team will be looking for him to fire as soon as possible.

6- Suresh Raina(Chennai Super Kings / Gujarat Lions)

Matches 153 Man of the match 14

Suresh Raina for the first nine seasons he was the highest run scorer in the league, later in between the ninth season, RCB Captain Virat Kohli overtook him. Suresh Raina in IPL has scored 4341 runs in 153 games with a century and 30 half centuries. Suresh Raina is considering as the best IPL batsman and won the man of the match award 14 times.

5- Rohit Sharma(Deccan Chargers / Mumbai Indians)

Matches 148 Man of the Match- 14

Rohit Sharma is one of an IPL product for the Indian team in International Cricket. Rohit Sharma’s success in the IPL played a crucial role in his International Cricket revival. Rohit Sharma in the IPL has scored 3923 runs in 148 matches and won 14 Man of the Match awards.  He is now leading Mumbai Indians squad and they have won the championship twice in under him.

4- David Warner(Delhi Daredevils / Sunrisers Hyderabad)

Matches 107  Man of the Match- 14

The most dangerous T20 batsman in the world is now defending the IPL crown this season with Sunrisers Hyderabad. David Warner has scored 3655 runs in 107 games for Delhi and Sunrisers. He with his bat has played many game-changing knocks and won 14 Man of the Match award as well.

3- Ab Devilliers(Delhi Daredevils / Royal Challengers Bangalore)

Matches 123 Man of the Match- 15

Probably one of the complete batsmen who has shots for each delivery; known as Mr. 360, Ab de Villiers is standing in the third position in this list and rightly so. In IPL he has scored 3394 runs in 123 matches bagging 15 Man of the Match in those 123 matches. In this season he is coming back from injury and will be looking to continue his good work for RCB.

2- Yusuf Pathan(Rajasthan Royals / Kolkata Knight Riders)

Matches 140 Man of the Match- 16

Known for his big shots, he is capable of changing course of the game in any situation. Let me remind you his Only IPL ton against Mumbai in 2010 season where he alone took Rajasthan closer to a win. He in IPL has scored 2858 runs with 41 wickets in 140 matches and more importantly for his all-round game he won 16 man-of-the-match.

1-Chris Gayle(Kolkata Knight Riders / Royal Challengers Bangalore)

Matches 96 Man of the Match- 18

Chris Gayle is at the top leading with 18 Man of the Match in 96 games. Chris Gayle since he has joined Royal Challengers Bangalore his game in this format is different and is in Top run getters list by playing less number of matches than others. Recently he has completed his 10,000 runs in T20 cricket and second in the list is Brendon McCullum with approx 7500 runs. Gayle in IPL has scored 3563 runs in 96 which is an amazing stats in T20 cricket.
