IPL 2017: Twitter Reacts As Mumbai Indians Thrash Kings XI Punjab

Hashim Amla’s maiden Twenty20 century went in vain as Mumbai Indians thrashed Kings XI Punjab by eight wickets to register their fifth win on the trot and move to the top of Indian Premier League table. Riding on Jos Buttler and Nitish Rana’s extraordinary power-hitting, the two-time IPL champions chased down 198 inside 16 overs.
Buttler and Parthiv Patel made a blazing start, adding 81 runs from just 35 balls before the latter was dismissed by Marcus Stoinis for 37.
However, his dismissal did not affect the chase, as Nitish Rana began playing the big shots right from the start while Buttler also continued to bat aggressively.
The duo added 85 runs off only 42 balls before Buttler was dismissed by Mohit Sharma. The England star scored 77 from just 37 balls with the help of seven fours and five sixes.
Nitish Rana and Hardik Pandya then took care of the chase and guided Mumbai to an emphatic victory with over four overs remaining. Rana remained unbeaten on 62 from 34 balls while Pandya played a handy knock of 15 from four balls.
Earlier, Hashim Amla’s maiden T20 century and a quickfire knock from Glenn Maxwell propelled Kings XI Punjab to the massive total. Hashim Amla and Shaun Marsh gave the home team a good start by adding 46 runs for the first wicket.
However, the home team was finding it tough to accelerate in the middle overs before Glenn Maxwell changed the complexion of the innings by hitting 27 runs in the 15th over which was bowled by Mitchell McClenaghan.
In the next over, Amla hit Lasith Malinga for two fours and as many sixes to put his team on the path for a good score. Maxwell departed soon but Amla held firm from one end and remained unbeaten on 104 from 60 balls to guide his team to 198 for four.

A thought. Is a pitch where the bowlers are expelled a good pitch? Isn't it as good or as bad as one in which the batsmen have no chance?

Come on @josbuttler I don't care who wins but love watching this man strike a cricket ball! 🏏 #IPL10

The hitting is dramatic but this is a my-bat-vs-your-bat match. Not a bat-vs-ball match.

#KXIP don't have a single bowler who plays for India in T20….and yet they've managed to field an all-Indian bowling attack. #IPL #KXIPvMI
