Rohit Sharma

Coming off two consecutive defeats, Mumbai Indians would be keen to head into the playoffs with a win in the ongoing match against Kolkata Knight Riders.

However, they received a huge setback very early in the match when their in-form opener Lendl Simmons was dismissed by Trent Boult for a five-ball duck. And with the likes of Nitish Rana and Parthiv Patel rested, the Mumbai-based outfit would have wanted their skipper Rohit Sharma to guide them to a good total at the Eden Gardens.

The India opener, who enjoys a good record at the iconic stadium, began brightly, hitting 4 fours and a six to race to 27 off just 20 balls. His counter-attacking shots also helped his team to settle down after a brilliant bowling by the Kolkata bowlers in the initial overs. However, just when the Mumbai skipper was looking set to play a good innings, he was undone by sharp in-cutter by Ankit Rajpoot.

Rohit tried to steer the ball towards the third man but the ball came back in a long way, to go past his bat and hit the pads. The ball, initially, seemed to have hit the bat but replays showed that the umpire’s decision was spot on.

Here is a clip of his dismissal:
