Delhi Daredevils’ campaign in the eleventh edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) suffered a major blow earlier this week, just at the stroke of kick-off.
Due to a back stress issue, their retained pacer from South African Kagiso Rabada is not available for the competition.
The injury to the back meant Rabada is slated to remain out of action for at least three months.
In a recent turn of events, Daredevils’ management announced English pacer Liam Plunkett as their replacement for the Proteas speedster.
Plunkett, who is a limited-overs specialist for England has represented his country in as many as 80 matches with 119 wickets to his name.
The Durham pacer Plunkett last represented in an international game in the recently concluded Trans-Tasman Twenty20 International series, following One-Day International series Down Under.
“Here’s announcing @Liam628 as our replacement for @KagisoRabada25 for the VIVO @IPL 2018. We’re stoked to have him with us! Welcome to Dilli, Liam! ?#DilDilli #Dhadkega,” tweeted Delhi Daredevils’ official Twitter handle.
In addition, the injury to Kagiso Rabada means Trent Boult now is the favourite to feature in the eleven of Delhi Daredevils.
Although, the big-hitting skills might enable Liam Plunkett to get the nod ahead of Boult who is not renowned for his batting.
