Apr 13, 2018 at 12:41 AM
Sunrisers Hyderabad continued their dominance in the competition on the back of their superb bowling attack.
The match turned out to be an absolute nail-biter, but it was the hosts who held their nerves against Mumbai with a one-wicket victory.
Here are the five game-changing moments in the match.
SRH bowling: Class above the rest
The diverse bowling line up of Sunrisers continues to assert their dominance. Starting from Stanlake, then to the Siddharth Kaul, finishing off with Sandeep Sharma, the pace department appeared sorted even without Bhuvi.
All three bowlers ended up with a couple of wickets each which meant that the Mumbai batters could not quite keep it going after getting starts. Interestingly, only five bowlers were used by Williamson yet again, who completed their quota of overs.
Rashid Khan’s spell
Rashid Khan continued to amaze many with his spell of bowling which had 18 dot balls at an extremely economical rate of 3.25. Also, he deceived his former SRH teammate, Ben Cutting with a googly.
Effectively, three out of his four overs turned out to be maidens, which can be termed as an exceptional feat of bowling in T20 Cricket.
Shikhar Dhawan’s blistering start
Dhawan continued with his purple patch, as he went on to score a brisk score of 45 which came off just 28 balls, and a strike rate of 160. The SRH opener dominated the bowling with the eight majestic boundaries he hit.
Mumbai Indians’ task became a lot stiffer with the start he gave chasing a moderate total of 147. Dhawan made sure with his two outings in the tournament that David Warner is not missed.
Markande, the giant killer
The stature of Markande continues to grow in this IPL, as he continues to dismiss big names in the tournament.
After dismissing Dhoni and two others in the CSK fixture, young Markande picked up the wicket of Internationals, Dhawan, Williamson, Manish Pandey, and Saha.
He ended up with four wickets in the match to cause a massive turn around in the game for Mumbai. Also, the spinner from Punjab conceded only 23 in his spell at an economy of 5.75.
At one point in time, MI looked gone and out, but his spell changed the tide for Mumbai Indians.
The Sunrisers’ collapse and comeback.
Sunrisers were cruising at one point in time with the score at 73-1. However, it all changed after the wicket of Dhawan, as it initiated a major collapse for the Sunrisers.
They lost their next eight wickets within a space of 64 runs, as Jasprit Bumrah and Mustafizur applied pressure by knocking down crucial wickets at death.
It all went down to the last wicket of Billy Stanlake who hit the winning runs only after Deepak Hooda held it together for his side.
