The game between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians turned out to be yet another thriller with the hosts winning the clash by 14 runs eventually.
It was Manan Vohra who set the tone early for Bangalore with the bat. Later on, captain Virat Kohli and Brendon McCullum intended to provide the final flourish.
However, the Red and Blacks almost tasted defeat by the all-round brilliance of Hardik Pandya who scored a half-century apart from affecting four dismissals early on.
At the end of the day, it was RCB bowlers who won Virat Kohli the match, as the likes of Tim Southee, Mohammed Siraj and Umesh Yadav chipped in with a couple of wickets each to help their team clinch a couple of important points in the battle of survival.
Tim Southee was adjudged as the man of the match for his lethal spell of bowling, where he conceded only 15 and bagged a couple of wickets.
“Nice to finally get a win on the board. There was a little bit of swing. I think we scaped through to a good score. Colin’s innings gave the momentum,” Tim Southee quoted while receiving the man of the match award.
“We still needed to bowl well to defend. We have come close. Nice to get over the line. It’s nice to get a win under the belt, ” concluded Southee.
