IPL 2018: 4th Match, Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Rajasthan Royals – Match Prediction

On the second day, the 11th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), witnessed Kings XI Punjab thrashing Delhi Daredevils at home and Kolkata Knight Riders sealed a comfortable win over Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. However, we have a big match coming up. The Sunrisers Hyderabad will play their first match of the tournament against the returning Rajasthan Royals.

The Hyderabad side has already been jolted with the absence of their regular skipper David Warner.

Kane Williamson will be leading the side all through the tournament due to the suspension suffered by Warner. Hyderabad boasts of some good names in their line-up.

In Williamson, they have found a composed leader who generally handles his troops in a calm manner.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar, one of the best Twenty20 bowlers in the world at the moment will look to provide the early breakthroughs and stem the run flow during the death overs.

Rashid Khan is also an asset to the team and will surely test the top class batsmen.

Rajasthan Royals, on the other hand, has also bought some terrific players, Ben Stokes being the most prominent of them all. He garnered the most prize money in the auctions in January.

Ajinkya Rahane will be leading the team in the absence of regular skipper Steve Smith. Like David Warne, he has also been suspended by Cricket Australia following the ball-tampering controversy for a period of 12 months.

Sunrisers Hyderabad:

In the absence of David Warner, Shikhar Dhawan will have to take the extra responsibility.

They might open the innings with Wriddhiman Saha and Dhawan. The former has done his job in the top order for the Kings XI Punjab in the past.

Williamson will lead the team. Manish Pandey and Yusuf Pathan in all expectations will occupy the fourth and the fifth position respectively.

The bowling department will be led by Bhuvneshwar Kumar followed by Rashid Khan and Siddharth Kaul. Chris Jordan with his reputation might occupy the fourth foreigner’s slot.

Predicted XI: Shikhar Dhawan, Wriddhiman Saha, Kane Williamson, Manish Pandey, Yusuf Pathan, Deepak Hooda, Shakib Al Hasan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Siddharth Kaul, Chris Jordan, Rashid Khan.

Rajasthan Royals:

The Royals will be missing the services of regular skipper Steve Smith. Ajinkya Rahane will be leading the side in his absence.

In all likelihood, Rahane will open the innings with D’Arcy Short. The young Australian has been a sensational performer in the Big Bash League (BBL).

Rahul Tripathi and Sanju Samson will be the pillars of the middle order. Both batsmen played brilliantly for their respective franchises in the previous edition of the tournament.

They have also lost the services of Jos Buttler owing to an injury and the South African wicket-keeper Heinrich Klassen, in all expectations will take his place in the playing XI.

All-rounder Stokes will be the player to watch out for while Krishnappa Gawtham and Ankit Sharma might be the two inexperienced spinners.

Jaydev Unadkat and Jofra Archer might well be two fast bowlers for Rajasthan

Predicted XI: Ajinkya Rahane, D’Arcy Short, Rahul Tripathi, Sanju Samson, Heinrich Klassen, Ben Stokes, Stuart Binny, Krishnappa Gawtham, Jofra Archer, Ankit Sharma, Jaydev Unadkat

The Sunrisers Hyderabad unit looks a more settled side on the paper and might be the more dominant side on Monday night (April 9). So my gut feeling for the encounter is that Sunrisers Hyderabad would come out as the winner. Rajasthan too has a good unit but it might not prove to be enough for their respective opener.
