IPL 2019 Auction: Top Five Unknown Most Expensive Buys for 12th Season

A total of 351 players went under the hammer in the IPL 2019 Auction. Meanwhile, there were some unknown players who didn’t have a big reputation before the auction. In fact, these players had recently risen to the ranks and made most of their current form.

Thus, these players who were not known at the big stage were able to grab eyeballs because of their recent form. Consequently, all the eight franchises went all guns blazing for these players, who are still not big names at the big stage.

Here is the list of five unknown expensive buys for the 12th season.

Varun Chakravarty: INR 8.4 Crores

Varun Chakravarty was the cynosure of all eyes when he was grabbed by Kings XI Punjab for a whopping price of INR 8.4 Crores, which is the joint highest with Jaydev Unadkat. Varun is a mystery spinner who impressed with his performances in the Tamil Nadu Premier League.

The right-handed spinner scalped nine wickets in the 10 matches of the TNPL. Most importantly, he bowled at a tight economy of 4.70 as he kept the runs under the lid. Furthermore, Varun had taken 22 wickets in the nine matches of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2018.

Shivam Dubey: INR 5 Crores

Shivam Dubey was roped in by Royal Challengers Bangalore for a whopping amount of INR 5 Crores. The southpaw batsman had become the centre of attraction when he smashed five sixes in an over. Dubey has been in fine form for the Mumbai team in the ongoing Ranji Trophy.

On the other hand, Dubey will like to make the most of his opportunities while playing for the RCB. In fact, it would be a great chance for Dubey to share the locker room with Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers.

Prabhsimran Singh: INR 4.8 Crores

The right-handed wicketkeeper-batsman Prabhsimran Singh was sealed by Kings XI Punjab for a whopping price of INR 4.8 crores. The 17-year old batsman had a good Under-19 Asia Cup and thus would look to carry the same form while playing for the Punjab franchise.

Consequently, he will like to come up with a solid performance in the IPL. In fact, this would be the first time when Singh will be playing in the flamboyant league. Thus, it would be great exposure for the prodigy batsman.

Colin Ingram: INR 6.4 Crores:

The southpaw Proteas was bagged by Delhi Capitals for the whopping price of INR 6.40 Crores. Thus, the left-hander reaped fruits for his consistent performances. In fact, the left-hander had played three matches in the IPL as he had represented Delhi franchise in the 2011 edition.

Subsequently, Ingram will like to make the most of his opportunities while playing for the Delhi side. As Colin Ingram is a South African player, he would be available for the whole season. The left-hander has scored 5186 runs in his T20 career and has all the experience under his belt.

Nicholas Pooran

Nicholas Pooran was taken by Kings XI Punjab for a whopping price of INR 4.2 Crores. The southpaw batsman can also take the wicketkeeping role for the Punjab side. The left-hander is a clean hitter of the ball and can hit the ground running from the get-go.

Meanwhile, Nicholas Pooran has smashed a quickfire knock of 57 runs from just 25 balls in the third T20I against India. He had scored four sixes and as many four in the final T20I match.
