IPL 2019: Former Cricketers Hails Andre Russell After Powering KKR to a Sensational Victory
Apr 6, 2019 at 10:49 AM
Kolkata Knight Riders all-rounder Andre Russell has almost made a daily habit to go out there and start hammering the opposition bowlers all around the park. The crowd of Chinnaswamy Stadium was supporting Royal Challengers Bangalore but they will be enthralled with the way Andre Russell kept smashing the RCB bowlers for sixes after sixes.
He came out to bat when KKR needed more than 50 runs to win in 3 overs and they ended up winning the match with 5 deliveries to spare. It was sheer mayhem by Russell as he has done in the previous 3 outings as well. It was Marcus Stoinis who came onto bowl the uncompleted over by Mohammed Siraj after he bowled two beamers and was removed from the bowling attack.
Andre Russell kept depositing the RCB bowlers to all corners of the ground as the boundary ropes at the Chinnaswamy Stadium proved to be way too short for the big man from Jamaica. In the post-match presentation, he revealed that no ground is bigger for him at the moment as he always backs his power of clearing the fence on a consistent basis.
Andre Russell eventually remained unbeaten on 48 which came in just 13 deliveries. The innings was studded with a four and 7 sixes. Russell has been the asset for KKR over the years. However, his level of performance has reached another planet in this season as he has already smashed 4 substantial knocks which have changed the course of the match for Kolkata.
For the 3rd time in the tournament, Russell went onto bag his 3rd Man of the Match Award of the Tournament. The way he is batting at the moment, it wonโt be a surprise if KKR goes onto lift their 3rd IPL title. Russell has been a special player for Kolkata in the last few years and this season he has taken it a notch higher.
Meanwhile, Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Dinesh Karthik revealed that it is important to keep Andre Russell in a good shape in the dressing room and help him be in a good space of mind in the dressing room. Following his whirlwind knock, Twitterati was just blown away by his magical knock.
Here are some of the best tweets of Andre Russellโs match-winning knock
