Sunrisers Hyderabad registered their biggest victory in IPL 12 after they defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by 118 runs in the 11th match of the tournament. The victory was largely built around three-match winning performances. Jonny Bairstow and David Warner both scored centuries to get Hyderabad to a daunting score of 231 runs.
After batting first it was a scintillating piece of batsmanship by Bairstow and David Warner. Bairstow, in particular, looked in ominous touch and took the RCB bowling attack to the cleaners. It was carnage on display by both the batters as they kept smashing boundaries at will. It was a great display of batsmanship which saw them register a huge score of 231.
Bairstow was dismissed on 114 of 56 deliveries was studded with 12 fours and 7 sixes. Warner also scored a century which eventually propelled Hyderabad to a daunting total. A score of 231 was always going to be a huge task for Bangalore. However, with Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers in their rank, they would have hoped for a great start.
The start proved to be a disaster for Bangalore as they kept losing wickets on a consistent basis. Mohammed Nabi was a sensation for Hyderabad as he bagged 4 wickets in his 4 overs spell and gave away only 11 runs. It proved to be the decisive spell as there was no way back for Bangalore.
Colin de Grandhomme and debutant Prayas Ray Burman shared a 50 runs stand but by then the match was all done and dusted. Eventually, Bangalore suffered a huge defeat by 118 runs. They are win to win any match and have already lost 3 from 3 matches.
Here is what Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper Bhuvneshwar Kumar said at the post-match presentation
Shows how good a spinner he is (Nabi). He was spot on from the first ball. It was a good batting track in the second innings but our bowling was brilliant.
