IPL 2019: Match 13, RR vs RCB – It Was A Great Team Effort – Ajinkya Rahane After Their First Win
Rajasthan Royal (RR) registered their first win in the ongoing Indian Premier League as they beat Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by seven wickets at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. Following their win, skipper Ajinkya Rahane credited the whole team for bringing the two crucial points home.
Rajasthan Royals dominated the game throughout as rightly so they deserved to win the game. Chasing a modest target of 159 runs, Jos Buttler got the home side off to a crushing start while Ajinkya Rahane also matched up to his skills to play some gorgeous looking shots. But Royal Challengers Bangalore made a comeback dismissing Rahane. Virat Kohli brought Yuzvendra Chahal in the eight over and he delivered as always.
Gopals continues to bother Kohli, de Villiers
He came back again to dismiss Jos Buttler but by then he has crossed his half-century. Buttler dominated the Royal Challengers Bangalore bowling to chase the target down. However, following his dismissal, Steven Smith and Rahul Tripathi produced a brilliant partnership before Smith got out with only five runs required. Tripathi sealed the deal in style with a six off Umesh Yadav who has looked completely out of place.
Previously, Shreyas Gopal picked three wickets to break the backbone of the Bangalore batting. He foxed Virat Kohli to make him his first victim with a googly after they added 49 runs for the first wicket. AB de Villiers and Parthiv Patel looked to bail their side out but Gopal struck twice back to back to have Bangalore at 73 for three. Marcus Stoinis – the debutant and Moeen Ali played late cameos to cross the 15-run mark but it was not enough at the end.
Great team effort: Rahane
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Ajinkya Rahane said that it was a great team effort. Besides, he also made special mention of Shreyas Gopal and Rahul Tripathi – two young Indian cricketers. He also congratulated the whole bowling unit for chipping in well in today’s game.
Here is what Ajinkya Rahane said,
Our thinking was, dew would come into effect. His (Shreyas Gopal) record against Virat and AB – we all know. Overall, it was a great team effort. After 3-4 overs, we came to know that the wicket was slow. All the bowlers chipped in really well. That’s what we wanted to do. We played good cricket in the last three matches. Today, it was about giving more than 100 percent. I think the way he (Tripathi) batted with Smith and Stokes, it was incredible.
