IPL 2019: Match 44, Chennai Super Kings vs Mumbai Indians – Toss Report
The 44th match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) will witness the mother of the clashes – Chennai Super Kings going up against Mumbai Indians at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Meanwhile, this will be a very important game for Mumbai as their qualification is at stake while Chennai have almost secured their place in the playoffs.
MS Dhoni & Co ended their two-match losing streak with a six-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad. The defending champions who are invincible at the Cheapuk will look to draw confidence and come out even better against Mumbai. Shane Watson, who announced his retirement for BBL, will look to continue from where he left in the last game. Meanwhile, the middle-order hasn’t chipped in with big scores and the management will want to have a look at them before the playoffs. The bowling department has done well with spinners Harbhajan Singh and Imran Tahir leading the charge.
On the other hand, Mumbai Indians have blown hot and cold so far in the tournament. However, the Chepauk wicket which has behaved indifferently in this season will be a welcome call for the Rohit Sharma-led team. Mumbai will depend on their middle-order batters who can play the long handles to do the job for them.
Chennai Super Kings skipper Suresh Raina has won the toss and elected to bowl first against Mumbai Indians at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. MS Dhoni misses out his second game in the season with fever.
Here is what the captains said,
We will bowl first, wicket still looks the same. I think dew will be the factor. MS and Jaddu are not well, they have fever and they will miss today’s game. We have three changes: MS, Jaddu and one more player is not playing (Faf). Dhruv Shorey, Murali Vijay and Santner comes in.
I would have chased too as dew comes in the second half which makes batting easier. The first half of the tournament was bit up and down. But now we know exactly what we need to know as a team. It is always challenging to play cricket here. We have made two changes in our team. Evin Lewis and Anukul Roy in place of Ben Cutting and Mayank Markande.
Chennai Super Kings: Shane Watson, Murali Vijay, Suresh Raina(c), Ambati Rayudu(w), Dhruv Shorey, Kedar Jadhav, Dwayne Bravo, Mitchell Santner, Deepak Chahar, Harbhajan Singh, Imran Tahir
Mumbai Indians: Quinton de Kock(c), Evin Lewis, Rohit Sharma(w), Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Kieron Pollard, Krunal Pandya, Anukul Roy, Rahul Chahar, Lasith Malinga, Jasprit Bumrah
