Former Indian batsman and current commentator Sanjay Manjrekar heaped praise on the skipper of Kings XI Punjab, Ravichandran Ashwin. The talisman was awarded the Man of the match for his all-round show against Rajasthan Royals in the 32nd match of the ongoing Indian Premier League.
Meanwhile, Ravichandran Ashwin who has been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons finally came up good for his side, Kings XI Punjab. The right-hander provided the finishing touches to his side as he played a nice little cameo of 4-ball 17. Ashwin timed the ball with perfection as he scored one four and two sixes in his knock.

Ashwin was at his best.
In fact, at one stage Punjab was heading to a score of 165-170, however, Ashwin’s blistering knock lifted them to 182. Subsequently, Ashwin was able to carry the same confidence in his bowling as well as in his leadership.
The Kings XI Punjab skipper scalped two wickets and conceded only 24 runs in his four overs quota. Furthermore, he led his team aplomb.
Subsequently, Ashwin ticked the right boxes in his batting, bowling and captaincy. Sanjay Manjrekar didn’t let this opportunity slip as he took a sly dig at the national selectors. Manjrekar said in his tweet that Ashwin was ‘three-dimensional’.

On 15 April, Vijay Shankar had made the cut into India’s 15-man World Cup squad. MSK Prasad, who is the chief selector had said that Vijay Shankar is selected in the squad as he brings three aspects, batting, bowling and fielding to the table as compared to Ambati Rayudu, who brings only one.
“After the Champions Trophy, we have tried quite a few middle-order batsmen, which also included Karthik, Shreyas Iyer, Manish Pandey. We did give a few more chances to Rayudu but Vijay Shankar gives three dimensions. He can bat, if the conditions are overcast he can bowl, plus he is a fielder. We are looking at Vijay Shankar as a No. 4. Now we have plenty of options for that slot,” said Prasad in Mumbai after announcing India’s World Cup squad for England and Wales.
