From Sydney to Yorkshire, IPL 2019 is abuzz with the way David Warner and Jonny Bairstow have performed in the ongoing edition. The rivalry has turned into a fairytale.  Time and again, the star batters have shown their class by scoring the bulk of runs for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). In the match number 38 of the twelfth edition against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), the hosts rode on a spectacular performance of the duo. The hosts chased down the target in 15 overs with nine wickets in hand.

Bairstow alongside Warner recorded 74-ball 131-run partnership for the opening wicket before Prithvi Raj cleaned up the southpaw. Warner faced 38 deliveries for his 67. He has slammed five sixes and three fours as his strike-rate read 176.31.

The wicketkeeper-batsman Bairstow has remained unbeaten on 80 off 43 with the help of seven fours and four sixes.

On the other side, skipper Kane Williamson remained not out on eight off nine balls.

However, the sloppy show in the field his piled-up miseries for the visitors.

Turning Point:

The duo in the form of Warner and Bairstow has made it a norm to forge a hundred-plus partnership in the IPL. With a recent milestone, they have registered fourth partnership of anything beyond the triple-figure mark in the ongoing season.

2nd Innings – SRH:

In a bid to chase a target of 160, hosts in-form openers; Warner and Bairstow rose to the occasion by making things quite easier in the run chase. While playing on a surface which tends to slow down, the duo had shown character by playing a ball according to the merit before unleashing their power to perfection.

Karthik used as many as six bowling options but Raj was the only bowler who managed to pick a solitary wicket of rampant Warner.

1st Innings – KKR:

After being asked to bat first, Knight Riders had a resounding start. Sunil Narine alongside Chris Lynn posted 42 for the first wicket in just 2.4 overs. However, Khaleel Ahmed has provided a breakthrough when he deceived Narine with a slower one.

Narine scored 25 off just eight balls with the help of three fours and two sixes.

On a sluggish-looking surface, Lynn couldn’t pace up his innings. Lynn scored 51 off 47 balls at the strike-rate of 108.51. His innings included four boundaries and a maximum.

While coming to bat at No.3 spot, Shubman Gill faced four balls for three runs before handing a simple catch to Vijay Shankar on the bowling of Khaleel.

Meanwhile, Nitish Rana couldn’t do much following a supreme show against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Rana scored run-a-ball 11 which subsequently saw Bhuvneshwar Kumar accounting for his prized scalp.

Skipper Dinesh Karthik couldn’t do much as he returned to the lion after scoring four-ball six. However, Rinku Singh’s promotion has somewhat augured well for the Knight Riders. He scored 25-ball 30 as his innings was laced with two sixes and a solitary four.

For the sixth wicket, Rinku alongside Lynn stitched crucial 51-run partnership off 43 balls which he somewhat helped guests to steady their ship.

Coming to bat at No.7, Andre Russell had no time to settle down. However, he smashed two sixes off nine balls he has faced, for his 15 runs.

Piyush Chawla consumed eight balls for his four, before KC Cariappa remained not out on nine off three balls.

By the end of 20 overs, visitors managed to score 159 for eight in 20 allotted overs.

Khaleel was the pick of the bowlers, who bagged three wickets while giving away 33 runs off 24 balls. Bhuvneshwar claimed two scalps in his quota of four overs. Furthermore, Rashid Khan and Sandeep Sharma eked wicket apiece.
