IPL 2019: Sunrisers Hyderabad – SWOT Analysis

After the brilliant last year, Sunrisers Hyderabad set to enter the Indian Premier League 2019 with a renewed energy. They are one of those teams, who don’t get much attraction but finds themselves a way to reach playoff stages on a consistent basis. Meanwhile, ahead of the IPL 2019, let’s have a look at the SWOT (Strength, Weakness, Opportunity, Threat) Analysis of Sunrisers Hyderabad for Indian Premier League 2019.

Strength – Team balance, Solid bowling attack

Once again, Sunrisers Hyderabad’s major strength would be their bowling attack. They are one of the few teams, who showed the world the importance of the bowling section. The bowling attack led by Bhuvneshwar Kumar has given them memorable victories in the past season against quality batting opponents.

The spin department also equipped with Rashid Khan and Shakib Al Hasan, who will be the wicket-takers for the team and can bowl those economical spells as well. The team would heavily rely on them for the breakthroughs.

The fast bowling section also got the likes of Khaleel Ahmed, Siddharth Kaul to help Bhuvneshwar Kumar. If required, they can embed Billy Stanlake and Sandeep Sharma alongside Shahbad Nadeem and Basil Thampi.

Apart from the bowling department, they got a good team balance with the flexibility in the lineup. With Vijay Shankar, Deepak Hooda and Yusuf Pathan being the bowling options, Hyderabad can try various combinations.

Weakness – Unstable batting-order

Well, the names on the chart show a lot of variety in the batting chart but the batting order doesn’t look that threatening to make things fall in place during crunch situations of the game.

The likes of Manish Pandey, Vijay Shankar are trying to prove a point but not the reliable shoulders. David Warner is back after a long delay. On the other hand, Kane Williamson is suffering from the injury.

The form of Yusuf Pathan is also a worrying sign for the team. The all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan isn’t the fittest as well. The only batsman in-form would be Jonny Bairstow but he hasn’t got the great idea of Indian conditions. However, the management would hope everyone be at their peak at the right moment.

Opportunity – Vijay Shankar, David Warner and Manish Pandey likes to make the most

The upcoming season would be a great opportunity for the players like David Warner, Manish Pandey and Vijay Shankar. Warner is back to the professional game after a gap of one year. So, he would love to make the most from the IPL 2019 in order to boost his chances for the ICC World Cup 2019 slot.

Coming to the Indian players, Manish Pandey and Vijay Shankar would be eager to make an impact. A good season with the bat will help Manish Pandey press his case for the selection while Vijay Shankar will become the certain candidate if he knocks good tallies for SRH.

Another player, who would like to make the most would be Siddharth Kaul and Khaleel Ahmed. If the duo performs well they might get the nod as the fourth seamer for the team.

Threat – Injuries and Rotation of players might hurt the team

Though the team looks pretty solid on the paper, injuries would certainly make an impact on the team. Kane Williamson, who is already suffering from an injury would be a cause of concern.

The all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan might not play the whole season, as he is suffering from the finger injury. On the other hand, Bhuvneshwar Kumar hinted resting at times, which would ask youngsters to fill his shoes. Recently, David Warner also suffered Elbow injury.
