IPL 2019: Suresh Raina Requests Spectators to Use Bins for Waste Materials During All Matches

The 12th edition of Indian Premier League is just a few hours away and come tomorrow we will be witnessing the opening match of the tournament between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore. Before the start of the match Suresh Raina, the middle order batsman of Chennai Super Kings spoke about cleanliness ahead of the opener of the IPL.

Taking to his twitter handle, Suresh Raina asked the fans and supporters of CSK whether they were excited for the start of the tournament. However, he requested the spectators to take care of the stadium and make sure it remains clean after the end of a match. He revealed that around 3.4-5 tons of waste are produced from every matches. Hence he urged the spectators to use bins for disposing of any waste materials during any of the matches in IPL.

“The @IPL fever is kicking in! Aren’t you excited? But, hang on! Did you know an average #cricket match in #India produces 3-4.5 tons of waste? So, how are you going to help keep our stadiums clean? I’d say, go for the bins & #DontBeMeanKeepItClean. @SwachhBharatGov #SwachhIndia,” Suresh Raina wrote on his Twitter handle.

Raina who is a terrific fielder has been out of the Indian set up for a few months now. The efficient left-handed middle-order batsman made a comeback to the national side during the T20I series in South Africa earlier last year. He scored a match-winning 43 in one of the matches which earned him the Player of the Match Award.

He was also part of the Indian squad during the T20I series in England which the Men in Blue won by a 2-1 margin. The southpaw had unimpressive returns during the series and was subsequently dropped from the team. India is having major problems in the No 4 position in ODI cricket.

Hence the experienced Suresh Raina might be in the scheme of things for the World Cup if he has a terrific record in the 12th edition of IPL. It will be a huge opportunity for some of the out of favour and fringe players t make their opportunities count before the World Cup.
