IPL 2019: Twitter Reacts as Delhi Capitals Crush Sunrisers Hyderabad in an Exciting Clash

Delhi Capitals banked on their young guns – Rishabh Pant and Prithvi Shaw to beat Sunrisers Hyderabad at Visakhapatnam to set up a Qualifier clash with Chennai Super Kings on May 10 (Friday).

Meanwhile, Prithvi Shaw got Delhi Capitals off to a flying start in the run chase. After a silent two overs, the young batsman took on Khaleel Ahmed in the third over to shift gears. He kept on the momentum to register 55 runs in the powerplays while Shikhar Dhawan mostly focused on rotating the strike. Shaw targeted senior stateman Bhuvneshwar Kumar taking him for 27 runs in two overs. Sunrisers Hyderabad finally managed to sneak in a breakthrough when Wriddhiman Saha stumped Dhawan off Deepak Hooda’s bowling.

However, the dismissal had no effect of Prithvi Shaw’s batting as he continued his onslaught and in the process brought his half-century. But Khaleel Ahmed struck twice in the 11the over – Shreyas Iyer and Shaw to bring his team back in the game. Hyderabad kept up the pressure as Rashid Khan removed another two in the 15th over to make the last five over interesting. But Rishabh Pant was still in the middle keeping Delhi Capitals in the game. The southpaw played a quickfire knock of 49 runs before Delhi walked past the target with one ball to spare.

Previously, Sunrisers Hyderabad got off to a flying start courtesy Martin Guptill. Despite losing Wriddhiman Saha, Guptill went hard at the Delhi Capitals bowlers. But as the slow bowlers came into the attack, it became tough for the batters to time the ball. Guptill departed soon after Hyderabad cross the 50-run mark but a partnership from Manish Pandey and skipper Kane Williamson steadied the ship. However, they were slow mainly focusing on ones and twos while the odd boundaries came in alternative overs.

Keemo Paul provided a breakthrough removing Pandey after a few tight overs from Amit Mishra. Williamson followed the suit soon before Vijay Shankar’s late cameo helped them cross the 150-run mark. Paul starred with the ball to keep things tight and contain Sunrisers Hyderabad to 162 runs.

Delhi Capitals will now face Chennai Super Kings in Qualifier 2 for a place in the finals against Mumbai Indians.
