Chennai Super Kings bounced back in style after Rajasthan Royals got off to a flying start after put in to bat first by MS Dhoni. Jos Buttler and Ajinkya Rahane gave a swashbuckling start, but once Rahane got out, the Chennai bowlers made a swift comeback with four quick wickets.
Meanwhile, both teams came into this game with a flurry of changes. While Chennai Super Kings brought in Mitchell Santner and Shardul Thakur, Royals added Riyan Parag, Sanju Samson, and Jaydev Unadkat to their playing XI. They got off to a flier with Buttler taking 11 runs from the first over while Rahane struck 14 from the second to make full use of the powerplays. But Deepak Chahar made a stunning comeback getting rid of skipper Rahane – MS Dhoni going for the review after the on-field umpire didn’t give it out.
Despite losing Rahane, Jos Buttler went hard against Shardul Thakur to take three consecutive fours in the fourth over. But the Indian pacer came back in the fourth delivery to have the last laugh. The wicket of Buttler dried up the runs as Chennai Super Kings took a firm grip on the match. This also led to another dismissal of Sanju Samson, who came back from injury. Striving at 53 for three, Rajasthan were in desperate need for a partnership. But Chennai struck for the fourth in short span to spread complete dominance over the game.
It was a fullish delivery from Ravindra Jadeja at 94.6 kmph. Rahul Tripathi tried to play another inside-out drive; however, the ball spins away but mistimed it as it flies off the outside edge. Kedar Jadhav at backward point jumped and grabbed a beautiful one-handed catch. Although he didn’t succeed in the first attempt but managed to gobble it with both the hands in the end. With the departure of Tripathi, Rajasthan Royals were reeling at 69 for four and were in deep trouble.
