Chennai Super Kings premier allrounder Dwayne Bravo has been ruled out of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 due to injury. The franchise has, so far, not announced any replacement for the veteran.

CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan had confirmed ANI about the ouster of Dwayne Bravo from the remainder of the tournament. With CSK already languishing at last position in the points table, his ouster has increased difficulty for the franchise to qualify for playoffs this season.

During the match against Rajasthan Royals, Dwayne Bravo went out of the ground before bowling his last over. He didn’t return the ground as he sustained a groin injury. As a result, MS Dhoni handed the ball to Ravindra Jadeja to bowl the last over of RR’s innings. The spinner conceded three sixes in his over and eventually, CSK lost the match, registering their seventh defeat of this season.

Earlier, Dwayne Bravo had missed a couple of matches at the start of the tournament because of injury. He is a vital cog for the team and has given significant contributions to victories in past seasons.

Kasi Viswanathan also informed that the Windies will return back to his home in a couple of days. He featured in six matches and picked up six wickets at the economy rate of 8.57.

“No, Bravo isn’t playing any more part this time round and the groin injury has ruled him out. He will be flying back in a day or two,” the CEO said.

There are mere chances that CSK will qualify for playoffs this season. After registering a win in their opening match against Mumbai Indians, their performance gradually slumped downs. The absence of Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh has largely affected their performance this season.

However, CSK is still to play four matches. Their next match is against the defending champions Mumbai Indians on Friday.
