Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) decision to host the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 hosting in September-November has made everyone happy. From cricketers to fans, all are excited to witness the most popular league after an extended break. Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan was also waiting for the last four months to hear the news on hosting of the league.
BCCI got the window to organize the league after International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the postponement of T20 World Cup 2020, which was scheduled in October-November.
ICC delayed announcement had also hampered BCCI to take the final call on IPL 2020. But as the saying goes, all’s well that ends well.
Irfan Pathan looking forward for to witness top-notch competition:
Irfan Pathan is also delighted with the commencement of IPL though fans and players have to wait for four months to get the good news. He also added that the cash-rich league supports several player’s financially as well as plays a major role in building their career.
“We were waiting for this news for four months, it’s a long time. We all were waiting for IPL and nothing better than this news because so many things depend on the league. A lot of career depends on that and a lot of financial supports depends on IPL. So, all the cricketers in the world are waiting but most importantly, the kind of competition and cricket we are going to see. Nothing is better than this, a wonderful league which is one of the best in the world,” Irfan Pathan said in the recent interview with ESPNCricinfo.
IPL 2020 will be played in UAE:
IPL chairman Brijesh Patel had confirmed that the league will begin from 19 September and the grand finale will be played on 8th November. The whole league will be played in UAE behind the close doors. This will be the second time that the league will be played in a foreign land, last time IPL 2009 was played in South Africa.
