IPL 2020: Three Players Who Can Replace Hardik Pandya If He Is Unfit For Mumbai Indians

Indian star allrounder Hardik Pandya’s injury has become a huge concern for Team India. The player suffered from an injury ahead of the Bangladesh home series. After which he went under successful surgery in the UK, since then he is out of action.

There were speculations that he will return to the team for the New Zealand tour. But he failed to pass a fitness Test which has led his snub from this particular tour. Now, his injury is a worrying factor in keeping mind the T20 World Cup scheduled in October, this year.

If the Mumbai Indians player remains unfit, he might also lose the place in the Indian Premier League 2020.

So, here we will discuss those three players who might replace Pandya in the Mumbai Indians’ squad:

1. Sumit Kumar:

Sumit Kumar, the young all-rounder of the Haryana cricket team, has done well in the last few days. The Haryana player has not played more home matches so far, thus, he could not find any buyers in the IPL 2020 auction.

The right-hand batsman drafted his name in IPL 2020 with a base price of 20 lakhs but no franchise showed interest in buying him. But given the young player’s recent form, it would not be wrong to say that Indians can turn to all-rounder Kumar if Hardik does not come back fit until the kick-off of the IPL.

Talking about statistics, in four first-class matches, he has scored 115 runs and picked four wickets at an average of 25.83. He has scored 342 runs and picked 23 wickets in 19 domestic T20 matches with a strike rate of 139.02.

2. Stuart Binny:

All-rounder Stuart Binny, who has been out of India’s national cricket team for a long time, could also prove to be an option for Hardik Pandya for the Indians in the upcoming IPL season. Binny has played in the IPL with several franchisees so far.

Binny had a disappointing performance for RR in IPL 2019 due to which the franchise released him ahead of the IPL 2020 auction. Unluckily, he could also not find a buyer in the recently-concluded auction and went unsold for the base price of 50 lakhs.

But now if Indians look for an option to replace Pandya in the upcoming IPL season, then Binny can be a good pick for them. Talking about the statistics, Binny has scored 880 runs in 95 IPL matches with a strike rate of 128.84 and has taken 22 wickets to his name.

3. Jalaj Saxena:

The Kerala all-rounder Jalaj Saxena has been a part of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Delhi Capitals (DC). But unfortunately, he could not get a chance to showcase his talent in the cash-rich league.

In the IPL 2019 auction, Capitals bought Saxena for 20 lakh rupees but without giving a chance to him, he was released by the franchise ahead of the IPL 2020 auction.

In IPL 2020 auction, no franchise showed any interest in buying him and he remained unsold with a base price of 20 lakhs. Although Jalaj is consistently doing well in the domestic fold. As of now, in the ongoing Ranji Trophy, the 33-year-old has picked 34 wickets, including four five-wicket hauls in six matches played. Thus, he can be an apt replacement for Hardik in Indians squad.
