Karun Nair, the only second Indian to score triple hundred in Test after Virender Sehwag, has been unfortunate to cement his place in Team India. He aims to prove his mettle with the bat in the upcoming IPL edition scheduled to begin from 19th September in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Karun Nair made the debut for India in 2016 against but after playing six Test matches and two ODIs, he was dropped from the team. In 2017, he last played for the Indian team. He has also not given top-notch performances in domestic cricket to earn a call from the team.

Also, for Kings XI Punjab, he has not been fortunate to get enough chances in the last edition despite being the third-highest scorer for the team in 2018. However, now again the opportunity has arrived and Karun Nair is all set to grab it.

In the recent interaction, he said that IPL is a big platform for any Indian to prove his worth. So, he is looking to guide KXIP to their maiden title. The Karnataka batsman believes that if he gives consistent performance through the tournament, the doors can open for him in Team India.

“IPL is such a big platform for every single player that comes from India,” he said. “Whatever opportunities I can get, I’ll be looking to do as well as I can to help Kings XI win games. If I can consistently do well then opportunities will come. Just looking at it one game and one opportunity at a time,” Karun Nair said.

The 28-year-old in six Test matches has scored 374 runs while in two ODIs, he has amassed 46 runs.

In IPL, he has played 69 matches and scored 1464 runs. The right-hand batsman has started the preparation for the IPL 2020 last week when the franchise started training camp.
