IPL 2020: Krishnappa Gowtham Moves To Kings XI Punjab
Rajasthan Royals have traded their all-rounder Krishnappa Gowtham with Kings XI Punjab. In turn, Punjab has already traded their fast bowler Ankit Rajpoot with Rajasthan Royals. Earlier it was confirmed that Rajpoot has moved to Rajasthan Royals.
However, there was no confirmation with which Rajasthan Royals player the transfer had taken place. Earlier in the day, Delhi Capitals also traded their fast bowler Trent Boult to Mumbai Indians. As Kings XI Punjab has let go of their skipper Ravichandran Ashwin, Gowtham will have a crucial role for the Punjab franchise.
Meanwhile, Krishnappa Gowtham was bought by Rajasthan Royals for a whopping prize of INR 6.2 crores in IPL 2018 auctions. The all-rounder had impressed with his performances in IPL 2018 but had failed to replicate the same performance in the next season of the league.
The right-hander could score only 18 runs in the four innings he played in IPL 2019. Furthermore, the off-spinner could scalp a solitary wicket in the seven matches he played in the previous season.
Meanwhile, the all-rounder has roared back into form. He had added the finishing touches for India B while playing against India C in the final of the Deodhar Trophy. The right-hander had scored a whirlwind knock of 35 runs off just 10 balls. The Karnataka batsman had blasted 28 runs in just one over.
Consequently, Krishnappa Gowtham will join his Karnataka teammates, KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, Karun Nair and Jagadeesha Suchith in the KXIP unit.
The IPL has set November 14 as the deadline for a pre-auction transfer window as the transfer will take place between eight teams. In fact, all the eight teams will also release the list of retained and released players before the auctions. The IPL auctions will take place on 19 December at Kolkata.
