IPL 2023: ‘Gutted’ Will Jacks Sends Out Defiant Message After Being Ruled Of IPL 2023

Will Jacks will have to wait for at least one more year to make his debut in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as a muscle injury has ruled him out of the upcoming edition of the tournament.

The England allrounder was all set to make his maiden appearance in the tournament this year after being signed up by Royal Challengers Bangalore. RCB secured his services by spending a whopping amount of Rs 3.2 crore during the IPL mini-auction in December last year.

However, a muscle injury has ended his hopes of playing in the IPL this year. Will Jacks sustained the injury while fielding during England’s second ODI clash against Bangladesh a couple of weeks ago. Subsequent scans and consultation with a specialist has forced him to withdraw from IPL.

Missing Will Jacks will be a big blow for RCB. The highly-rated allrounder was seen as a perfect cover for veteran allrounder Glenn Maxwell who will be coming to IPL 2023 on the back of a long injury lay off.

Will Jacks is a handy off-spinner and a hard-hitting batsman. In 109 T20s so far, he has scored 2802 runs at an average of 30 and a brilliant strike rate of 158. He has also picked up 26 wickets so far. Recently, he impressed in the inaugural edition of the SA20. He finished the competition as the 6th highest run-scorer, scoring 270 runs at an average of almost 39 and a stunning strike-rate of 201.

Will Jacks sends out message after being ruled out of IPL 2023:

Will Jacks, on Thursday (March 16), sent out a defiant message while also expressing his disappointment over being ruled out of IPL 2023. Sharing a news report of him getting ruled out of IPL 2023, the 24-year old stated that he was gutted before defiantly stating that he would be back as he tweeted:

“Gutted. I’ll be back.”

RCB will be looking to find a replacement for Will Jacks as soon as possible. IPL 2023 is scheduled to begin on March 31 while RCB will open their campaign on April 2 with a mouthwatering clash against Mumbai Indians.
