Even though MS Dhoni isn’t the captain of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Navjot Singh Sidhu delivered scathing remarks on the former captain of the team following CSK’s loss to LSG.

This came after CSK was handed a drubbing by LSG as the fortress at the Chepauk was breached on April 23, 2024.

KL Rahul, the captain of LSG, won the toss and decided to bowl first. With the help of Shivam Dube’s 66 in 27 balls (7 sixes and 3 fours) and Ruturaj Gaikwad’s 100*, CSK amassed 210/4 in 20 overs.

They lost Quinton de Kock for a duck when LSG started chasing after him. Soon after, KL Rahul was dismissed for 16, while Devdutt Padikkal was removed after 13 runs. But Marcus Stoinis led the chase, adding a useful 55 with Devdutt Padikkal and then hitting a critical 70 with Nicholas Pooran in just 34 balls.

Pooran’s rapid 15-ball 34 gave the LSG chase the much-needed energy that it required. In the final three overs, Stoinis dismissed Mustafizur Rahman and Matheesha Pathirana while Deepak Hooda made a 17* contribution in six balls. Then, with 17 runs needed to win in the last over, Stoinis smacked three fours and a six off Mustafizur.

With six sixes and thirteen fours in his score of 124 in 63 balls, Stoinis was still undefeated. The game was won by LSG by six wickets.

“If you credit Dhoni for CSK’s wins…”- Navjot Sidhu

Following Ambati Rayudu’s comments on Ruturaj Gaikwad’s “lack of experience,” Navjot Singh Sidhu delivered scathing criticism to the former captain of CSK, sparking a heated argument.

After CSK’s defeat, Sidhu, who is renowned for his frank remarks and outspoken demeanor, attacked Dhoni, implying that the great captain should share part of the guilt for the team’s subpar play.

“Poor field placements in deaths overs by Ruturaj…We clearly saw lack of experience as captain,” Rayudu said after the game on Star Sports.

“If you credit Dhoni for CSK’s wins, then blame him for the losses, too. Dhoni is still the main think tank,” Sidhu retorted.

Earlier, Sidhu had claimed on Star Sports that Dhoni is still leading CSK.

“If you talk about Ruturaj, he is still under the shadow of Dhoni. You can say as many times that Dhoni is not captaining, but ultimately he is leading the side. When Dhoni leaves, there might be no shadow of him,” Sidhu said.
