IPL 7, Eliminator 1: CSK vs MI – Hits and Flops

The eliminator match between the biggest rivals of IPL – Mumbai Indians vs Chennai Super Kings. The Match was played at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai where Mumbai Indiabd had a great home record. Mumbai Indians somehow qualified after beating Rajasthan Royals in the last match dramatically. Chennai, on the othe hand, will be hoping to win and take the revenge of last years final.

Mumbai Indians

Lendl Simmons – Once again he should character and scored the all important runs at the top. He gave Mumbai a blasting opening partnership with Michael Hussey and made 50 runs opening stand together.Hussey though got out, he kept on his nerves and scored a fine 67 runs which helped Mumbai to eye a big score. He hit four huge Sixes and took his tally of hitting most sixes to hit for Mumbai Indians. He got out off Jadeja at 67.

Michael Hussey – It seems like one of the opener keeps on hitting and the other stays calm on the other end. Thats what Hussey and Simmons doing these days. Hussey, today kept his cool and scored run a ball and later accelerated a bit to score a fine knock of 39 at the top. The duo made a 76 runs opening partnership below 10 overs. He was looking great on form, suddenly a short ball from Jadeja Shattered his stumps.

Praveen Kumar The veteran bowler does not have that pace but his ability to swing the ball is still there. The first ball of the Chennai imnings was a peach from him and he kept on bowlimg the same.He almost got Smith in the opening spwll but the Umpire denied a clear decision. He gave just 13 runs in his first three overs. But later he gave 14 runs in the last over when Mumbai almost lost the match.

Harbhajan Singh– He remained economical once again. The pick of the bowlers for Mumbai in todays game must be Bhajji. He picked two important wickers in the same over. He removed both the openers who were looking strong and holed them out at Long boundary. He went for 27 runs today in his quota of 4 overs.

Kieron Pollard He was needed to finish the innings in style. But he failed to connect and Mumbai lost a golden opportunity to score above 200. Had he been there Mumbai would easily reach 190 plus runs today. He made 14 runs off 8 balls and nehra scalped him. He was flop with the ball too. He bowled badly in the only over he bowled and went for 10 runs.

Jasprit Bumrah – This youngster was the only hope of Mumbai in seam attack but he failed badly. Wothout Malinga, every eye was on him to perform. He gave 17 rins in the opening over and later went on to give 40 runs without even completing his 4 overs. He bowled wide outside off stump regularly. He would like tp forget this day though and start a new season on a high.

Chennai Super Kings

Suresh Raina–  This man performs when his team needs him the most. Another match winning innings, he scored fluently and made his 50 . He went on to score his 400th runs of this edition of IPL and achieved this feat in all seasons. He was also given the captaincy for Bamgladesh tour today. This is good for CSK that they got their main man bacj in firm at the right time.

David Hussey His IPL journey is turning out to be better and better. He came in place of McCullum and today when CSK haven’t played any foreign bowler  he made a brilliant partnership with Raina and saw CSK home comfortably. He started very slowly but later used his experience and hit 3 sixes in 4 balls and eventually scored an unbeaten 40 off 29 balls.
