It was the last game of the group stage of IPL 7 between Mumbai Indians. It was a crucial match too as this match was to decide who would be the fourth qualifier for the play-offs. But RR was on the upper hand in the game and MI had to win by a huge margin to make their place in the play-offs. And as it happened the match was a fairy tale and MI managed to score 190 in 14.3 overs and did set a world record. Throughout the match, there have been several match-winning and upsetting performances from both the teams. Here is a list of the HITS and FLOPS of the match:
FLOPS Of The Match
Shane Watson (RR): In an important game, the RR skipper failed to perform. He looked out of touch tonight with the bat and just managed to score 8 runs off 18 deliveries. He also disappointed with his bowling and captaincy. He gave 33 runs in 2 overs and went wicketless.
James Faulkner (RR): This man proved to be the culprit for RR. He gave away as many as 52 runs in 3.4 over and failed to deliver a Yorker at the last ball.
Pravin Tambe (RR): This veteran leg-spinner did not manage to keep things tight tonight. He gave away 25 runs in his 2 overs and failed to take a wicket. Moreover, their side failed to defend 190 runs in 14 and a half overs.
HITS Of The Match
Corey Anderson (MI): What can be told about this man! He played one of the best innings of IPL. It was because of him that MI could chase 190 in 14.3 overs. That indeed sounds weird. This man has proved why he is considered one of the best T20 batsmen at present. He thrashed every bowler for boundaries. And when the big names in the likes of Michael Hussey, Lendl Simmons, Kieron Pollard and Rohit Sharma were dismissed, he and Rayudu kept the hopes alive for MI and played a blistering innings himself. He scored a mammoth and blistering innings of 95 runs off 44 boundaries with 9 fours and 6 maximums. I wish I could find more words to describe his performance today. It was just speechless!!!
Ambati Rayudu (MI): This man also played his part today. He assisted Anderson in the huge partnership and made things happen in favour of MI. He thrashed many boundaries and also in crucial times. The partnership between him and Anderson worthed 81 runs. He himself smacked 30 runs off 10 deliveries with 5 fours and a six.
Aditya Tare (MI): Although, judging by the scoreboard, this man’s contribution might not be considered as a HIT. But his 6 off the last ball did make the difference between the two teams to qualify for the play-offs. He came in the most vital situation when his side needed a boundary off the last ball to qualify due to net run rate. He managed to hit a six off the square leg region comfortably.
Sanju Samson (RR): This man played a fantastic innings tonight for RR. He held the baton for his team when his team were struggling to score. He scored a blistering knock of 74 runs off 47 deliveries with 7 fours and 3 sixes.
