IPL 8: Five things you haven’t seen before in IPL

Shashi / 06 April 2015

This years IPL is not long away from kicking off and the event which is growing in viewership every season has come up with some great ideas for brand promotion this season.

IPL which provides all the entertainment value for a regular cricket buff has something new to offer to its fans even after 7 seasons of the energetic action on field.

Here is a list of things we will see for the first time in this season of IPL:

Last chance for the Fab Five: Sehwag, Zaheer, Harbhajan, Yuvraj Singh and Gambhir have all served India in their prime but this might be the last chance for them to impress crowds all round the world and to show them that they are still capable of putting in good performances.

Ponting’s Coaching debut: To watch Ponting and Sachin walk out to play in a partnership was quiet a view in 2013. Two years on, both the players have retired but Ponting who was a ruthless captain will coach the Mumbai Indians team in this year of the IPL. Expect him to be as tough as he was as a skipper

Jagmohan Dalmiya is back: Jagmohan Dalmiya is the person responsible for bringing out the commercial side of cricket almost two decades ago when it was dominated by Australia and England. He is in charge of a high post for the first time after the cash rich IPL has come into existence.

Chuck’em out: The new rule of checking a bowlers action for the angles has seen many bowlers fall prey for it and Sunil Narine is one such victim. However Narine has been cleared and can bowl but the whole rule will be a burden on all the players in the IPL this year.

Fan Parks: To reach out to people who are not able to experience the match environment on a regular basis, the authorities have come up with the idea of a weekend fan park in developing towns like Agra Warangal Indore etc where huge screen are set up and is likely to accomidate around 10000 people at once.
