IPL 8: Match in numbers – KKR vs RCB

Mohit Camma / 12 April 2015

There is hardly anyone who isn’t aware of the Gayle storm and yesterday there was something more than a Gayle storm that occurred. While RCB were playing KKR in Kolkata, a storm had already stuck Bangalore and the fans of RCB team were hoping for another storm to strike the Eden Gardens in Kolkata and it rightly did.

Gayle started off well in yesterday’s match but upped the ante right when it was required and took RCB to a comfortable win which looked like a difficult one at a time. But that is the power of Gayle and now nobody escapes his wrath.

There were a lot of important numbers that made through the game yesterday and we bring to you all of those only on SPORTZWIKI.COM. Here’s the list of exciting numbers from yesterday’s match:

1) Bangalorean vs Bangalore: Bangalorean lad Robin Uthappa, currently playing for KKR completed his 400 runs against the RCB team, we can definitely say that he loves playing against his home team.

2) The heroics of double G: As Danny Morrison calls Gautam Gambhir. He completed 500 runs against RCB yesterday and became 4th player in IPL history to score 500 or more runs against a single opposition. Others to do so are –
595 Runs – Virat Kohli vs CSK
590 Runs – Chris Gayle vs KXIP
504 Runs – Suresh Raina vs KXIP
501+ Runs – Gautam Gambhir vs RCB

3) There’s no stopping Gayle: Chris Gayle became the 1st player in T20 history to score 7000 runs.

4) 1 short of 200: Chris Gayle now has 199 sixes in IPL, highest by any player. 2nd best is Raina with 134 sixes. Now you know the difference.

5) 16th time now: Gayle for his innings of 96 runs got his 16th man of the match award, the most by any player in IPL. Closely following him is Yusuf Pathan with 14 awards. Pathan would have made it equal to Gayle had Morkel caught the catch of Gayle bowled by Pathan of course. His bowling performance would have won him the award and both big hitters would be tied at 15 awards each.

6) Run-out for the first time – Chris Gayle was dismissed for 96 and was run out. He was run-out for the first time in his IPL career.
