IPL 2020: BCCI Rope In Unacademy As Official IPL Partner For Three Seasons

BCCI has roped in education technology platform — Unacademy as official IPL partner for three seasons. Unacademy has a long list of investors of the stature of Facebook, General Atlantic, Sequoia India, SAIF Partners, Nexus Venture Partners, Steadview Capital, and Blume Ventures. It looks to be a good choice also being an Indian company, it’s not in the most precarious positions by any means.
The deal stands from 2020 to 2022 i.e three years, IPL chairman Brijesh Patel confirmed. It had been earlier speculated that a deal worth 60 crores per year has been agreed for the same.

IPL chairman Brijesh Patel confirmed the news through a press release that Unacademy has a deal in place to be the official partner of the IPL from 2020 to 2022. He also mentioned they expect Unacademy which is a homegrown brand to create a positive impact on the audience, especially the youth.

IPL is the most watched cricket league in India and as a homegrown Indian edutech company we believe that Unacademy can create a huge positive impact on the aspirations of the audience watching, especially the millions of Indian youth who are seeking inspiration in their careers,” said IPL chairman Brijesh Patel.

The BCCI has taken a huge slash on the title sponsorship this year with Vivo backing out from their 440 crores per year deal due to the rise in anti-China sentiment in the country after clashes in the Ladakh’s Galwan Valley left 20 Indian military personnel dead. Dream 11 acquired the title sponsorship of the IPL 2020 for Rs 222 crores.
The IPL 2020 will begin from September 19 till November 10, a total 53-day campaign will see all the eight teams play in UAE. The venue this time is UAE and matches will be played in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.
