Former Indian Cricket team coach, Gary Kirsten will take over from Daniel Vettori as the head coach of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) from the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League.
Meanwhile, Vettori was with the side for the past eight seasons both as player and coach. However, Kirsten joined RCB as the batting coach in the 2018 edition of the league.
This will be a huge boost for the side who is aiming their first IPL title. RCB has had some outstanding teams over the years but lacked the killer instinct which kept them one step away from lifting the title.
Speaking on his appointment, Gary Kirsten admitted that he is glad to continue his journey. Moreover, he wishes to help this franchise lift their maiden title next year.
“I had the privilege of coaching with the RCB team last season under head coach Vettori and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I look forward to continuing the journey with RCB and doing my best to help the franchise reach its potential,” Kirsten said.
He also thanked the franchise for acknowledging his ability and he is looking forward to the journey.
“I want to thank the team management for considering me in a leadership position with the franchise and I look forward to a successful few years,” Gary Kirsten noted.
Daniel Vettori meanwhile, expressed his gratitude towards RCB for all good memories he had in India. He also wished them luck for the future.
“I am extremely grateful for the eight years I have spent with RCB, as a player and a coach and I wish the franchise all the best moving forward,” Vettori concluded.
