Rajasthan Royals seem quite interested in getting the services of Sunrisers Hyderabad’s opener David Warner. The two Franchises were involved in a funny exchange on Twitter where SRH wrote that there nothing better than watching the duo bat together, which promoted Rajasthan Royals to ask them if they were releasing their star opener?
David Warner was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2014 auction. A year later, he took over as the captain of the side and led the team to a title victory in 2016, where they defeated Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore in the final. Here is the Twitter conversation between the two teams –
While it is a no-brainer that SRH will never release Warner, his addition to Rajasthan Royals would be a big boost as Warner will open the innings with Jos Buttler.
Talking of Smith, he was first bought by Rajasthan Royals in 2014. In 2016 and 2017, he played for Rising Pune Supergiant, also leading the team in IPL 10 where they lost to Mumbai Indians in the final by just one run on the last delivery of the tournament.
In 2018, he returned to Rajasthan Royals but had to miss the tournament, along with Warner, as they were banned by Cricket Australia. The duo made its return to IPL in 2019. Smith replaced Ajinkya Rahane as the captain of Rajasthan Royals mid-season and is expected to keep the position next year.
On the other hand, there might not be any change in captaincy at SRH as Kane Williamson has done a great job as captain. under him, SRH made it to the final in IPL 2018 while they made it to the playoffs in IPL 2019.
Going into next season, both the teams will have a new head coach. SRH had roped in England’s World Cup-winning coach, Trevor Bayliss. Rajasthan Royals replaced Paddy Upton with Andrew McDonald, who is also the assistant coach of Australia.
