The second match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) saw a clash between hosts Kings XI Punjab and Delhi Daredevils at PCA Stadium, Mohali.
It was the hosts who were simply sensational on the given day in all departments of the game. The home side managed to clinch a 6-wicket win and also opened their account in the points table.
KXIP treasured possession, KL Rahul announced himself in the tournament with the quickest half-century in the history of IPL.
Lokesh Rahul, during his quickfire knock of 51, brought up his half-century off just 14 balls. Daredevils posted a score of 166 in the twenty overs.
Unfortunately, the visitors could not quite a comeback from the initial blow as Karun Nair brought his side closer to victory.
I don’t want to be overconfident: KL Rahul
Rookie Mujeeb Zadran made a sensational debut in the IPL with his three effective dismissals which put the Daredevils on the backfoot.
“I just went in there and I just took off. I didn’t plan this innings. I was just watching the ball and getting into good positions. It’s an openers responsibility to get the team off to a good start. Really happy that it came off today,” said Lokesh Rahul, after winning the man of the match title.
“I was striking the ball really well, but it’s important to forget this innings and move on to the coming games. I don’t want to be overconfident. I have been branded as a Test cricket for 4-5 years so it’s good for me to be up there and creating the record,” concluded KL Rahul.
