Pakistan has lost the two back-to-back T20Is against Sri Lanka in the home ground. It is to be noticed that the Sri Lankan team that is touring Pakistan is less experienced than the host. The visitors have shown good performance in the Pakistani Soil. This series was the first assignment of Misbah-ul-Haq as the Head Coach and chief selector.

Former Australian cricketer Dean Jones recently commented on the duo responsibility given to Misbah. He shared his view on Twitter. He wrote-
“In my opinion in cricket, you cannot have both roles as a head coach and a selector. Imagine if you were a player with some technical or mental problems… would you be honest with your coach as you are more likely to be sacked!” Jones said in a Twitter post.”

He views if your coach is the selector will you share your problem with him as there are chances that you are thrown out from next match.
I want Misbah to do well: Dean jones
But he feels that Misbah will improve the performance of the team. Under him, the team will grow but it will happen when he gets support.
“Re my comments today. Misbah is a dear mate of mine. I genuinely want him to do well. With 3 formats of the game and a new First Class system… it’s hard to do all the jobs properly and well. I want Misbah to do well. He needs support and patience,” Jones wrote in his second tweet.

Many former Pakistan cricketers are also of the view that Misbah should not be given two responsibilities. After the disappointing ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 for Pakistan, the head coach contract of Mickey Arthur‘s was not renewed. Later, Misbah-ul-Haq has been selected for the job. He has been also given the responsibility of chief selector.

Former Pakistan cricketers question that will it be fair for the players who will play domestic cricket. As the head coach, Misbah will be mostly busy with the national team when they tour. Who will see the grass-root player?? will he select the player by judging them through scoreboard??
