Jasprit Bumrah suffered an abdominal strain while batsman Mayank Agarwal suffered a blow in training that has put his participation in doubt too. Ravindra Jadeja and Hanuma Vihari became the latest Indian players to have been ruled out from the Brisbane Test.
“Jasprit Bumrah suffered an abdominal strain while fielding in Sydney. He is going to sit out of the Brisbane Test but is expected to be available against England,” a BCCI source told PTI.
It is now expected that two-Test old Mohammed Siraj will be leading the Indian attack in his 3rd Test and will be joined by 1 Test old Navdeep Saini, 1 Test old Shardul Thakur and debutant T Natarajan in the Brisbane Test, starting January 15.

Indian team is going through arguably an unprecedented injury crisis at the moment. Batsman KL Rahul was sent back home before the Sydney Test too after suffering an injury.
The report cited BCCI sources who claimed that Jasprit Bumrah’s scans showed a strain and the Indian team management don’t wish to aggravate the injury keeping the upcoming home series against England in mind.
A BCCI source confirmed that Hanuma Vihari is unlikely to be fit for the next Test starting after a three-day break on 15th January. An official word from the BCCI on the latest injury crisis is yet to come but it does look like the Indian team will struggle to put a fully-fit 11-member team at the Gabba on Friday.
