Joe Burns Confident Of Making Test Comeback

Australia’s Joe Burns is hopeful to make a Test return with sheer hard-work after failing to impress Cricket Australia (CA) selectors, in the opportunities provided to him in the longer version of the game.
The 27-year-old Burns, who was recalled for the second Test against South Africa in Hobart, failed miserably by scoring just one run in both innings.
“I guess I’ve made three Test hundreds so I’m really confident that if I can get back there in form making runs and if there’s a spot in the side, I can have success at that level,” Burns told The Daily Telegraph.
Earlier, the right-handed batsman Burns, who was dropped after scoring 33 runs in two innings at Pallekele last year, failed to live up to expectations with the bat before being dropped for the Adelaide Test last November.
“I love playing for my country, representing the Australian people, there’s nothing better. You have to earn the right to play for your country,” Burns said.
Burn’s was replaced by rookie Matt Renshaw, who grabbed the opportunity with both hands by averaging 63 in his four Tests he has played so far.
“You earn the right by making as many runs for your state in the Sheffield Shield, and that’s my job now,” Burns added.
“I’m just enjoying that challenge. I’m confident I’ve got the game to have success. I’m just trying to make sure I’m at the top of my game,” Burns remarked.
The Queenslander is the leading run-scorer (601) this season for his side.
“I’m leading run scorer in the competition so I’m very satisfied with how I’m going just have to maintain that and just keep going.”
In the recent games against Tasmania and New South Wales, Burns scored 83, 108 and an unbeaten 88.
“It’s about going back and showing that ruthlessness at the state level,” Burns concluded.
The Herston-born Burns made his international debut in December 2014. He has played 13 Tests in which he has scored 873 runs at an average of 37.95.
