Pat Cummins got the best deal in the IPL 2020 auction as he was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for 15.50 crore. Following this, Australian national cricket team head coach Justin Langer believes that players like Pat Cummins didn’t change after getting whopping money in the Indian Premier League.
Former Australian cricketer Justin Langer, who got the duty of head coach last year, feels pacer Cummins isn’t going to change whether he receives a huge sum of money. Langer considers that Pat Cummins is the player that every team wants in their squad.
“You could pay him a $100 million, you could pay him a $1 billion, it’s not going to change him,” Langer told reporters on Tuesday. “They’re the sort of people you want in your team.”
“You could pay him a billion dollars a day and it’s not going to change him. He just loves playing cricket, he’s an outstanding young bloke…it’s not going to affect him,” he added.
Pat Cummins – The most expensive overseas player in the IPL history
There was a massive bidding war to get his service for the upcoming edition of IPL. Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore were keen to scalp Pat Cummins, but at the end, Kolkata Knight Riders got him for the whopping INR 15.5 crore.
He surpassed English all-rounder Ben Stokes in the record of being the most expensive overseas player in IPL history, who was bought for 14.5 crores by Rising Pune Supergiant in 2017.
He made the debut in IPL for KKR in the 2014 season. In 2017, he played 12 matches and picked 15 wickets for Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals). He was bought by MI in the 2018 edition but was ruled out of the tournament because of injury. In the last edition, he didn’t draft the name in the auction. However, he has now scalped mammoth money in the IPL 2020 auction.
