Based on the media reports, India’s World Cup winning captain Kapil Dev has taken a dig at Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid after their names flashed in media over the possibility of being named as the next team India’s coach.

Kapil was especially unhappy with the fact that these were the players who didn’t want an Indian coach to be appointed (when he expressed his desire to coach the team) during their playing days and suddenly there are talks going around about the chances of either of them being appointed as the coach of the national team.

Kapil said:

“When I expressed my desire to coach the Indian team 15 years back, these were the players who didn’t want an Indian coach to be appointed and suddenly why these players are bringing themselves in the frame to be the next coach of the national team is not at all understandable to me.”

India are scheduled to tour Bangladesh in June and with Duncan Fletcher’s departure, it remains to seen as to who gets selected as the next coach.

After reading all this, it can be said that Kapil Dev has made such comments based on the media reports only as because both Ganguly and Dravid never said that they want to become team India’s coach. The media created a hype over both these players and this reaction is just in retaliation to the fact that there has been no Indian coach appointed for national team since the last 15 yrs when Kapil himself was the coach.
